It is substantially thicker and stronger than ordinary “security film,” and unlike off-the-shelf products it is independently tested and certified to recognized ballistic and forced-entry standards.

Across the product line, Clear-Armor defends against forced entry and smash-and-grab, sustained physical assault, bomb-blast pressure, severe weather and windborne debris, and ballistic threats. The bullet-resistant tier is NIJ Level IIIA certified, stopping common handgun rounds up through .44 Magnum and 12-gauge 00 buckshot. SL-31 Riot, a 31-mil laminate (1,100 psi) built for prolonged attacks, riots, and active-threat scenarios. No. Clear-Armor is optically clear at 87% visible light transmission with zero distortion. There is no yellowing or hazing over the life of the installation, and it rejects 99% of UV. From any viewing angle, interior or exterior, the glass looks like untreated glass, so your daylighting, views, and design intent are fully preserved.

Yes. The laminate applies to the existing glazing without altering frames, hardware, or operation. Windows and doors open, close, and lock exactly as they did before.

No. Because Clear-Armor is a laminate applied to existing glass, not a structural modification or glass replacement, no building permit is required in the vast majority of jurisdictions. Minimal. Routine cleaning with a mild, non-abrasive glass cleaner keeps the laminate performing and looking its best. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents that could scratch the surface.

It can. Removal should be handled by trained technicians to avoid damaging the underlying glass. Once removed, the laminate cannot be re-applied, a new laminate would be installed if protection is needed again.

The bullet-resistant tier is NIJ Level IIIA certified through independent third-party testing by NTS Technical Systems (15 shots, 3 samples, zero penetrations of .44 Magnum 240-grain SWCGC). The line is also UL/ULC 752 tested, GSA Blast Level 1&2 rated, and meets glazing and fire-code standards including ANSI Z97.1, CPSC 16 CFR, ASTM E84, EN 356 P4A impact, BMAG Level 1, hospital safety, and hurricane testing standards. “Bullet-resistant” is the accurate technical term, no glazing is truly bullet-resistant. Bullet-resistant products are tested and certified to resist specific ammunition types and shot patterns under defined standards like NIJ and UL 752. Clear-Armor’s BR tier is certified to NIJ Level IIIA against common handgun threats and 00 buckshot.

Clear-Armor carries a Limited Lifetime Warranty on materials, installation, and workmanship for as long as the laminate is properly maintained. It is not a fixed-term warranty, it covers the product for the life of the installation.

No glazing laminate can be certified to ASTM F3561 on its own, and any vendor who claims otherwise is overstating what they offer. F3561 is a forced-entry standard for complete school security glazing systems: it tests the installed assembly (glass, frame, anchoring, and mounting) together as one unit, not a laminate material by itself. Clear-Armor is independently tested and certified to NIJ Level IIIA, UL/ULC 752, EN 356 P4A, and GSA Blast Level 1 & 2. A true F3561-rated system requires replacing windows and frames entirely, high cost and major disruption to an occupied building. Clear-Armor retrofits onto your existing windows at a fraction of the cost and timeline, while still carrying its own independently verified protection levels. If a vendor tells you their glass is “F3561 certified,” ask whether that testing was done in your building’s actual frames, or in a lab-built system you’d have to fully replace your windows to install.
